If only Clinton Security is a nightmare mare in Kenya what about if Obama's comes with his two little gals and there mother i think not even people will be allowed to watch on the street and every Kenyans will be required to take a full bath it means wash all the bombs off their bodies....

Anthony Osimbo • 11 years ago

I believe they were informed and someone was sleeping on the job. The Kenya security should borrow a leaf from the secret service.

ariane961 • 11 years ago

Why not?
Our government cannot be trusted to make any rational decisions. Who would trust a government that instead of investing in meaningful initiatives to reduce poverty engage in buying super expensive seats for parliament with a cost of over 1Billion and sending 80 government officials to London for an "investment forum" while real upcoming athletes are struggling at home.
So, Yes!! gvt looks incapable to think right and that calls for such a treatment.

DKjones • 11 years ago

Why does the media bother? The visitors rely on the same media to trumpet the visit and show how good the relations are. What would happen if the media gave these visitors a blackout? Absolutely nothing! Wanjiku would not have an extra sufuria of ugali.

Jack James • 11 years ago

Very unfair coz this is taxpayer money but being used extravangantly on people who don't pay any tax to our country.

Harold Kinyanjui • 11 years ago

The visitor was just the US secretary of state, suppose the US president came visiting, maybe all Kenyans will be locked in their houses until he flew off,we should not be eager to have such visitors.

JohnAchima • 11 years ago

There is no way American Security was going to expose their high official to risks. Imagine the previous night some blast was experienced at Eastleigh. Where was the Kenyan security? Are these the people you can trust with the security of a person in the al qaeda's menu

joakim • 11 years ago

how about the killin in corolando or the sikh temple killin, their insecurity is just as bad as ours so stop praising them so much

Daud A • 11 years ago

Such display of Giga Might can only be a when we grow up stuff for us.

Morrison • 11 years ago

There is a clear international diplomatic protocol in such cases. One party can not just stand there and talk to the press on behalf of the other. A joint communique should have been drafted, negotiated and agreed beforehand. It isn't arrogance. The reporter should not have reported on this without giving the context. No wonder Kenyans feel slighted.

Ngugi Steve • 11 years ago

not surprised at all..! we shall overcome.

AM • 11 years ago

It is high time we liberalize politics and allow everyone to participate whereever they live. That way we don't have to penalize anyone for being American or Armenian or Cuban. All that matters is whether you live in the the country at the time of your comments.

Chamigili • 11 years ago

Do you mean liberalize politics to the extent of even allowing those who have been accused of crime against humanity vie for high office in the land? Common Kenyans where is the integrity in leadership that is spoken of in Chapter 6 of the constitution? What crime did the HC security commit? They were just doing their job and doing it well to their delegated duties!

Faustin Moogi Soroncho • 11 years ago

i cant believe that our prezo alitaka ku brief watu alafu wakakataa!!!!!!!

Prince Petre • 11 years ago

That is what we call a country whose people are worthy and their life is put upfront in any scenarios.USA knows how her people in seniors positions are a target for any crime,so prevention is better.let us not make this a propaganda if we can not offer same to our people.

Chamigili • 11 years ago

Thumps up for you Prince!!!

SMKelvin • 11 years ago

???????????????????????????????? what does it matter ???????????? i certainly see the queen everyday and she only has a 3 car convoy

Kananga Eliud • 11 years ago

If Kenya had always such security, then there could be no terror activities

kinywawazi • 11 years ago

They were only protecting a dignitary.... not ordinary citizens damn it!!

Moffat Ndirangu • 11 years ago

And even with the meanest and high tech security personnel, they couldn't do nothing when Hillary Clinton was attacked by a swarm of Bees in Malawi... lol

ngaii • 11 years ago

Amazing how the bees passed the security detail to their target.

Ricky Oyaro • 11 years ago

"Those cars’ occupants were mean-looking, tight-lipped and muscular security men with eyes hidden behind dark glasses. No one would dare mess up."- Interesting piece of journalism right there.

popo • 11 years ago

Big brother show

Tendere Cetera • 11 years ago

And how did her visit benefit Kenya/WaKenya? Total bull! America is no longer the super dog!! China is!! Toothless old dog still trying to pull one. Sort your own mess back home and let the world be, especially Africa. All the same, congrats on "curiousity" Mars landing.

Chamigili • 11 years ago

I am afraid that you display ignoranzia totalis!

US GDP 2011 - $15trillion, 300million citizens, avg household income $48K/yr
CH GDP 2011 - $7trillion, 1.3billion citizens, avg household income $5K/yr
china has some catching up to do...and so long as we keep begging the US for aid (or any country for that matter), we will have to remain subservient to them. don't let America's recession fool you, people are still living very well there compared to most other countries (~8.3% unemployment is relatively middle-low).

Alfotula • 11 years ago

Correct. People shouldn't be allowed to make uncoroborated sweeping statements.

Njuru Julius • 11 years ago

By the way was there anything of slight significance her visit brought. Right now we dont depend on Americe and West for that matter for economic progress. So West should treat us with respect. Infact if we get more progressive govts in the next 15 years we might catch up Asian tigers of these world.

JAMOK2010 • 11 years ago

Did President himself complain?

Julius • 11 years ago

Now I vaguely but simply understand why it would be a bad idea for Obama to call on us. The country where sovereignty was long pawned for useless goodies pocketed by a few.

suluhisho • 11 years ago

We need to understand where the Americans are coming from, we cannot blame them for their paranoia, they are under constant threat of lethal harm from all sorts of terrorists, but they need to understand that such global over-hyper-protective arrogance does them more harm than good.

Alfotula • 11 years ago

I concurr totally

Joemuoria • 11 years ago

I'm sure so many of her security detail had a rough time keeping Ebola off when she was in Uganda. They must have done a good job though because the woman never caught the virus

Maina Chege • 11 years ago

The media will always write what we want to hear. Its commonsense that a superpower nation must guard its high profile officials in such manner. If terrorists managed to explode a bomb near our military barracks, what shouldn't we expect to happen to an unguarded US secretary of state.Am not saying it was OK how it was done but it should be a wake up call for our Government to increase security for all to avoid such humiliations.

Royal • 11 years ago

Tuliomba kazi, "Moments later, the Secretary of State arrived with her convoy. Her security took over from the Kenyan officers who had been manning the area; their role was now to guard the American security details and their numerous sniffer dogs."

Hasidi Hakimu Osama • 11 years ago

Kefa Njengah • 11 years ago

This is not "American Arrogance". Its the reality of a high level dignitary visiting Kenya. Here is a nation that has failed to protect its own citizenry from El Shabaab, muggers, carjackers, and thieves. Any nation, let alone the US, would be stupid to trust Kenyan security forces to protect its government officials. I wouldn't trust them to protect me!!

JohnAchima • 11 years ago

That is the security style required in Kenya. Because it is not there we normally complain that our security is laxed. Remember - Be ware of the unexpected

KakaMbwekha • 11 years ago

There is nothing unique here. We go through the same security check ups here in the U.S. especially when the President Obama is around. Anyway I find it ridiculous that her security is handled by US instead of Kenyans. Does it mean our security is inferior?Rhetorical question though.

David Githinji • 11 years ago

there are reasons why thing happens, the way they happen. just because they does not happen your way ( or let me say they way want it) does not mean or represent the best of your views. however, if our security is being subsidized by US, you have nothing to say... just appreciate her role and visit and shut up!!! it is not US dominance it is the war on terrorist that's what unify us. Thanks to US..

davis mnjama • 11 years ago

its good to do all that needs to be done. professionalism should be encouraged. let the security fellows do their part.

David Githinji • 11 years ago

things that Kenya should know:
1. we have been fighting terrorist in this country before 9/11.
2. she is a soft target for this
3. we have to defend our national interest, we do not want her to complicated our Somalia war issue>>> go figure
4. relax, take 5 and look at Kenya, US relationship, there is a a lot to learn from it< we are attack before they were >>

Abdul Yusuf • 11 years ago

Anyone can be trumpled on even in your own country.Does'nt it infiltrate your mind
who "We Are The World" is?

wambete • 11 years ago

this is what you get when you have clowns for security details....

thulicious • 11 years ago

We should have such guys around Our leaders too.

AM • 11 years ago

Can someone save us the hustle and use video conference in future without travelling. That way we shall have normal lives and avoid all this drama. We are creating another wonder of the world out of nowhere.

alico • 11 years ago

Hahaha poor kenyan leaders u treat ur citizen dat way nd ur masters treated u well

Evando • 11 years ago

Lol... So people have a problem with the Security detail of Mrs Clinton visit in Kenya... Cut your ege guys. Just shows how minute of thoughts we have... (infact we are just talkers for the sake of being heard - seeking symphathy???) Why the heck should the Americans entrust their security 100% on a country scandalous as mine (My country - Kenya) that you can never tell whether we're moving fwd or not... DAH!

collo2 • 11 years ago

Wait aminute.. you call this arrogance, show of power, disrespect etc etc and yet none of you complain when Kibaki shuts down the city when he goes to Harambe House or to the airport???? and by the way, they don't do that just in Africa,Secret Service takes take over security functions wherever senior diplomats travel outsid eof USA so don't start feeling sorry for yourself. AND, FBI does not provide security for travelling diplomats. Stop whinning. And to imagine you want Obama to visit Kenya. If you thought this was arrogance, wait until Airforce1 crosses into Kenyan airspace.

PAUL OTIENO ONYANGO • 11 years ago

interesting scene the same people who shout on top of the roof that kenya is a sovereign state when it come to taking some people to ICC are the same ones who are being taken around like children since some big guy is in town. what a shame that the so called VIP guards were protecting the VIP in town-call it american dogs and the limousines. an abuse to the kenyan inteligence. well i do understand since kenya has no foreign policy and cannot stand her fit to claim her dignity.
